The Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) is the oldest continuously operating university in Hungary, an internationally renowned institution of the Hungarian and Central European higher education. ELTE and the Faculty of Informatics is ranked amongst the best in the national and international rankings.

Currently, with nearly 3,000 students, ELTE Faculty of Informatics (ELTE FI) is the most popular faculty among Hungarian high school graduates. More than half of all the national applicants in the field(s) apply to the ELTE IK each year. The Faculty of Informatics is the only institution in Hungary providing a degree in cartography. With the accession of the Savaria Institute of Technology in Szombathely in 2017, training portfolio was expanded with mechanical engineering and technical manager training. The ratio of international students increased by large, recently over 14% of students are international providing a great opportunity for global discoveries, networking.

With its extensive network of industrial partners – more than 100 companies – ELTE FI is a key partner for the Hungarian industry – higher education co-operation. By now several high-quality co-operations as, Deutsche Telekom, Bosch, EIT Digital, Ericsson, are in place, providing long-standing and valuable experience, experience for future co-operations in modern industrial co-operations. The Department of Data Science and Data Technology is supported by the Deutsche Telekom (T-Labs) since 2016, the Department of Artificial Intelligence is supported by Robert Bosch Ltd since 2019. Most of the study programmes contain internship, meaning that the graduates have experience and network for future job opportunities.

The Faculty of Informatics also provides student services such as Mentor students, Student Counsellors online and live activities, to support reaching full potential of individuals.
