What is Preliminary Programme?
The Preliminary semester is for students who would like to prepare themselves better before starting a BSc training in Computer Science in English. The Preliminary semester includes lessons in Mathematics, Informatics and English language.
What kind of degree will I get at the end of the course?
You will only get a declaration of completion, but please note, you will not receive any kind of certificate. Preliminary program is not a degree program, it is not the first semester of the BSc course, that is why you will not get a degree. BUT if you pass your exams successfully, you continue your studies starting the BSc program. Completed courses will be counted into your BSc degree.
How much does it cost?
The tuition fee is 3,200.00 EUR per semester, needs to be paid by semester start OR in case you need it for a visa, until the deadline of the visa administration.
Furthermore you have to pay 80 EUR application fee. (It is a NON-REFUNDABLE one-time fee) Is is the fee of the administration costs of your application: to check your documents, organise your test and interview. Without this fee your application will be rejected.
How can I apply?

IMPORTANT! Before submitting your application, please double check your personal data AND the e–mail address with you register will be your official e-mail address, we will write you information letters ONLY onto this e-mail address. In case you would like to change your e-mail address later, please write an e-mail to international@inf.elte.hu
- Please, sign in at the site and upload the following application materials wholly:
- Copies of your secondary school finishing documents (GCE / GCSE / …) and a transcript about the results of the final two (or more) years. If you don’t have yet a final document (because you’re in your final year), you can send it later, as soon as possible, but please send us your transcript anyway. Without these documents the admission committee denies your application!
- Copy of any further documents, course descriptions about your education. E.g. computer courses, higher education, language exams etc.
- A curriculum vitae, listing your personal data, your educational background, and work experience (if you have), and mentioning whatever you find relevant.
- A motivation letter describing your situation and objectives with applying to our University’s course.
- A copy of the main pages of your valid passport.
- A passport photo not older than 3 months.
- A copy of your medical certificate, which can be issued by the nearest hospital or doctor; it should state that you do not carry any contagious diseases and you are found physically and mentally fit for higher education abroad.
- Proof of application fee transfer – 80 EUR
If a document is not in English, please send both a copy of original and an official English translation, otherwise we cannot evaluate it.
Of course, you must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally come to the university.
What happens next?
- In case you payed the application fee, your documents will be checked
- In case you have uploaded everything correctly, you will get an invitation e-mail for an online test to your e-mail address registered during the application process.
- In case the result of your test is at least 50%, we organise you an interview in English to check if you have an Intermediate language knowledge.
- Once everything is done and your results exceed the expected level, you will receive a Letter of Acceptance via the application site.
- With the Letter of Acceptance you can apply for a visa.
- In case any of the necessary documents is still missing until 29 November 2024, your application will be rejected.
